My second article

Yay, my second article is out. It's supposed to be lighthearted and funny.

My friend at MSNBC.com said that people there were cracking up over it, which is encouraging. I've been looking at it for so long that I couldn't tell any more if it was good, bad, or whatever.

Very good stuff. I was cracking up as well. Hope this leads to fame and fortune.

Thanks Dirk, I'll be happy if I don't make too many enemies among the various people I'm joking about - fans of Mars Volta, Apple, Linux, etc. :)

The article was crap. Crap enough for me to find your name on it and find your blog to comment here. Give me a break - making fun of geeks and their toys is not only not entertaining, its soo 1985.

Nice job making fun of Linux after blogging about all of the OSS software and tools you are trying to learn a couple of blog posts back. I'm no friend to Linux, but your hypocrisy is overwhelming.

Hey, thanks for the feedback.

I'm afraid maybe my tone wasn't as clear as it could have been. It's all supposed to be read in the spirit of lighthearted ribbing.

I've owned some of these things and I use linux fondly. The point of the article really is to make fun of people who use gadgets heedlessly or self-importantly. As I say, I'd hoped that would come across better.

Honestly though, I think self-important ponces get it way worse than geeks, because while I am a geek, stuffy business types give me a proper headache.

Hi Dan,

I just read your article. Very entertaining. I appreciate your courage!

I think the newest divide to take on the PC/ Mac battle is the Wii/any other 'real gaming' system.

And I do appreciate the bluetooth headpieces for the cell phone or schizophrenic.

Thanks,

Just read your article on MSNBC.com--I admit, I was reeled in by the first cheesy pic of the guy with his Bluetooth and "Oh yeah!" expression.

But, hands down, one of the best (i.e., funniest) pieces I've read on MSN. So entertaining, in fact, that I went into semi-stalker mode and Googled you.

Creepy, I know, but it's a good thing...sort of. :) I think that Blackberry bit was one of the best...still snickering to myself right now.

And I have a few friends I'm thinking about forwarding this to. Esp. since they've yet to catch my hints via "Cat's in the Cradle" as their special ringtone on my cell.

Nice job.

Hi Krystal! Thanks for dropping by and saying something nice. It's more encouraging than the anonymous poster who stopped in to say that my article sucked so hard s/he had to track me down and tell me why.

I hope the romance writing is coming along well. I wish I had deep, sensible advice to pass along, but this is only the second thing I've been paid to write, so I'm just getting lucky so far.

Um . . . be lucky I guess.
